The WS-series wind turbines are supported by guy wires
on four sides. Eyebolts are embedded in concrete blocks
and attached to the guy wires. The wind turbine mast
sits on a pivot point attached to a moderately-sized concrete
foundation.
To erect the wind turbine, the mast is attached to the base
with the wind turbine supported so that it is not resting
on the ground. The guy wires are adjusted to their
approximate length on three sides. On
the fourth side, a long guy wire is run through the eyelet
in its ground attachment. A fifth wire is run from
the mast's guy line support, over an A-frame lever arm, and
attached to a tractor or winch. The
tractor or winch slowly pulls the wind turbine to the vertical. Then,
all guy wires are tighted until they are snug, but not overly
taut. |
